I thought it was fascinating Eleen Page once again shows why she is probably the best new actress we have I also like how the film style was fragmented a very realistic film.Another great performance if you haven’t seen it with Ellen Page is Hard Candy.

9th Company (2005) [russian] – set in 1988 but it is a very good film plus year wise it’s close to your suggestions of Jarhead and Black Hawk Down (the book of Jarhead was written in 1993 so it was set before then and the events Black Hawk Down book and film are based on happened in 1993). It is based on the battle for hill 3234 where the Soviets battled against the Afghanistanis.
Beaufort (2007) [hebrew] – this is set in 2000 and is about an IDF (Israel Defence Force) unit in the South Lebanon conflict.

my friend slipped and fell at winn dixie (grocery store) in a puddle of pop and is now going to try and sue.?

money for what? what are the damages? didn’t go to the emergency room. is not in treatment. there is no lawsuit here, and if you push it and the judge finds out she went to see a lawyer before a medical professional, she could get slapped with a frivolous lawsuit charge. courts frown on that.

Depends on the facts, but it sounds like she’s going to lose. The actions of the store had to be unreasonable. She would basically have to make a case that the store owner was somehow negligent, either by showing that they knew about the spill but didn’t take adequate measures in cleaning it, or somehow they created a situation where it was extremely likely that soda was going to spill on their floor and cause someone to slip. My guess is that neither of those happened in this case. She can’t sue just because someone accidentally spilled some soda and she happened to slip on it before someone had a chance to clean it up.

A snippet of dialog from a favorite movie of mine, Friday. To put it into perspective falling doesn’t warrant payment. I slide through water and ice and jump around off stuff for fun. If I fell I couldn’t say oh… your puddle of water, sheet of ice or bench obstructed my free jumping. Therefore causing me injury.
In your friend’s case she SHOULD seek medical attention and get a VERY PROFICIENT LAWYER. IF she IS SORE and HAS HURT HERSELF and IS PREGNANT there are sooo many things at risk. Her health, her soon to be child’s health etc. The odds of her getting money aren’t very good if she doesn’t hire a good lawyer. That’s the biggest part of it. Who can build a case, have the doctor’s diagnosis and spin that to generating a liability for the company. It’s pretty difficult. If she tries to lie about it she risks getting herself in trouble. She has to put the right spin on it.
Like the lady who sued McDonalds for having hot coffee and spilling it on herself. She wasn’t the most intelligent woman, put a paper cup between her legs and tried to drive with scalding hot water in it. As well as applying break and putting on parking break and turning while expecting the water to stay in the flimsy paper cup. Hmm. Well you tell me.. how good is the lawyer

it was an accident…..she didnt lose any money due to this accident so she cant be compensated for her clumsines….. im sorry but thats what it was…..she was being clumsy. she needs to take the stores instructions and file a complaint. PLUS with no hospital records she cant claim she got hurt which from what it looks like she didnt since she went home…..it sounds to me like she is having a hard time paying for things such as her "studio apt" and with being a "single mother". that is not a reason to sue someone. which you wouldnt have mentioned her hard time (which is what you are implying with her story of having surgeries etc and her apt and being single etc…..) if that wasnt the reason for her to want to get some money out of someone to pay for some expenses like rent. if thats not the case, then my apologies but she cant sue…well she could, but she wouldnt win.

A referendum on keeping the Lib/Lab party in power, but not on the EU. Why?
The mandelson/brown cabal are so desperate to keep power, that they are proposing a referendum on changing the UK voting system. If passed, the lib/lab pact will be in power forever.
However, didn’t the mandelson/brown cabal withdraw the EU referendum, that they promised, because ‘the UK has no constitutional history or need for a referendum’?!
‘It works in other countries’ ministers have said. So did repeated referenda on the EU, but no sign of of that in the UK.
‘It works in Australia’ the ministers say, so does the forcible repatriation of illegal immigrants, foreign criminals, false asylum seekers, and hard border controls. Have they forgotten to say that these will be introduced in the UK because they ‘work in Australia’?
‘No MP will have less than 50% of the local vote’, the ministers say. True, but that does not mean that they have the support of 50% of the electorate as a whole. Unless, they haven’t told the electorate that everybody will be forced to vote, as in Australia.
I am wondering if this is being used as a sop to labour lite, sorry, the lib dems, to form an anti-conservative alliance. If so, will it be dropped, like the eu referendum, after the general election? After all, mandelson/brown/blair have previous form with regards to election promises and a non-existent referendum.

Whatever their motives, the change to the voting system will make it more representative and wouldn’t affect the next election anyway. The liberals and labour could unite against the tories under the present system, so it would make no difference. Cameron plans to try and fix the boundaries to give his party more MPs if he gets in so they are all at it.
As for the EU, maybe we should have one, but maybe also we should be given some reliable information about the thing rather than the UKIP bullsh1t we get from the media. I, for one, know very little about it other than from idiots ranting about straight bananas.

What should I get for an 85 year old man for Christmas?
I received a secret santa person from my church and I got an 85 year old male, and that’s all I know about this person. They were in their late teenage/early twenties during WWII, but would he want to remember that? And I thought about a large print book, but what if he doesn’t like to read? I’m trying to think of an ingenious gift (without going over $20) so i’m doing my research. I even looked up what movies were the box office hits when he was 16 or 21, so the movie "The Bells of St.Marys" is a possibility. I don’t want to resort to the usual elderly person gift, like socks, slippers, hats, ties, candy, etc. And please, no rude answers.

I have created a new set of beliefs for myself, and would like to tell others about it. I’m not trying to change you, but I like this, so I gotta say it out loud.
God is the inner desire inside all of us, but God has two sides. One side: The wish to please yourself. The other: The wish to please other people. They are both good, but both just as unstable and dangerous. If we lust for self-pleasure to extensively, we begin to disregard others, and harm them. On the flip side, if we try to make others happy, you may hurt yourself in the sacrifice.
The human naturally tends to favor themself over another, so the other side is more stable than the self-pleasured side. To find a perfect balance of these sides, though, creates pure happiness.
Its not that simple. Stop thinking, you’re brain’s gonna ’splode.

That sounds like typical human behavior. Freud referred to it as the Ego (the part that is acceptable and giving, or pleases other people); the Id (the part that wants self-gratification); and the Super-ego, the part that gives us balance between the two.
You can call it god if you want, but why not just take some psychology classes and learn the commonly accepted terms?

You have redefined "God" to mean something different than what most people mean by that word. I don’t have a problem with that. A lot of the time, the desire to please oneself and the desire to please others overlap. Charity is a good example of this. If I give something to the poor, clearly I am trying to help somebody else. But I am also helping myself to feel good about who I am as a person. The two desires are not mutually exclusive of one another in a lot of situations.

The fifteen promises of Mary to Christians who recite the rosary:

Wow, man, that’s like awesome dude, but I am trying to rekindle the worship of Canubis, the ancient Egyptian God of Mellow. He’s got great stories about creating the universe and giving his sacred herb to humanity, but…um…I kinda forget right now. Still, the important thing is…well, I forget that, too. But, s’kool, cause he’s like totally laid back about rules n’ stuff.
Seriously though, you might want to read the philosophy of Epicurus, which refines your basic idea quite a bit.

There are religions and then there is truth. Religion is for people who like rituals, truth (like the Bible) is for people who have found out the truth. The one true God loves you and wants you to be in a relationship with Him. You don’t have to make up a religion for yourself. What Jesus can offer you surpasses your wildest dreams.
I know you are thinking if He was the answer, you would have used Him by now if He was accessible. He seems so elusive and fantasy like because you hear that he’s "everything you need" and the "answer to your problems". He actually is. Fact: Did you know that God visits everyone on earth at least once in every person’s life in some form (spiritual encounter, through a church service, or a christian) and pleads with them to believe in him? (There are many testimonials where He also comes to those who are at the end of themselves). Pray now for God to come into your life and remove your emptiness with peace that is beyond the greatest peace a human can experience. He will if you mean it deep in your heart. I believe today he will come to you and reveal his true purpose for you. He responds to blind faith which is the truest faith. Try it, what is there to loose?
The truth is that God created mankind to be with him in heaven. Only a relationship with Jesus will get you to heaven. There is no other way or person by which anyone will be saved from Hell.

Anyway, I’m looking for names along the lines of Brittany or Tiffany.. with the "any" sound at the end. I don’t want to choose Brittany or Tiffany because I know girls with those names, but those are just the examples. Any suggestions?
I don’t want any freakishly weird names that no one has ever heard of either lol.
Also; I know some people are going to say this.. so I’m just going to address it now.
